Dragonfly Magic

Monday 26.2.2018.

DRAGONFLY MAGIC.

Greetings Lovely People on The Universal Journey.

Lately I have noticed so many dragonflies around. Sitting quietly, near a pool, I opened my eyes to find one hovering at my face – checking me out?! Delicate, spontaneous, agile & colourful, they dart and hover as the whim takes them – on their own mission of whatever that may be!

According to A. Cartwright, dragonfly animal magic/totem suggests or symbolises the message that life is not what it appears to be. She also offers the following: Its keyword is clarity. It challenges & prompts change as it manoeuvres around things from different angles – reflecting and refracting light and colours in a multitude of ways. Dragonfly shifts consciousness, form, energy and colour, allowing you to be an observer through higher frequencies of light and consciousness; thereby revealing the essence of truth beyond the illusion. This can help you transform situations that have held you in a state which has been holding you back. Clarifying the mind - able to change behaviour or circumstances for long-term happiness. This beautiful delicate creature can be changing the way you are feeling or thinking at the moment. . . shifting your consciousness by opening the 3rd eye. . . breaking down illusion, old patterning & strategies you have created to protect yourself. It also allows healing to occur on different levels. Dragonfly also connects you to elementals, plant or nature spirits. She helps open your heart to feel joy, grace and support your evolution.

Thank you A. C. for your insights into this amazing creature’s potential magic for us! Let alone a mesmerising few moments of captivating nature at one of its prettiest.

Happy dragonfly spotting on The Universal Journey!

The Poetic Universe of Qigong

Saturday 24.2.2018

“The crisp morning air touches the bare skin of your face and hands and draws attention to the nostrils taking in its freshness. A deep exhilarating breath awakens the throat and lungs and sets the biological ball rolling for the pre-emptory movements about to happen for your body.
Lazy ducks glide across the pane-glass surface of the pond; Willie wag tails and finches twitter and bob between the native trees of the surrounding parkland; and the grass shimmers with the touch of sunlight upon its dewiness. This same sunlight sends a lighted delicate glow all around. Ah Nature!”  T.M.

This is a perfect setting for beginning the practice of a Qigong session.

Qigong, literally translates as life-force energy (qi, chi) cultivation, work or development. But in its doing, there is not meant to be any vision or intention of ‘work’ in the usual sense whatsoever. Like the lazy duck that glides across the pond, there is much more than meets the eye with qigong. ‘Lazy’ the duck is definitely not. For beneath the surface of the water, it is ‘working’ intuitively to move its streamlined body through the water. In its seeming effortlessness, it produces an image of ease, peace and detachment from obstructions or worldly affectations. And in this gliding, this natural activity, the duck paints a delicate yet profound wake upon the pond water; not a disturbing picture to behold, but an inspirational one where the yin and yang concepts are reflected in the ever-changing nature and play of light and shadow over the water.

Not only is the above introductory passage a pretty and poetic one, but also a perfect  mindset and attention to surrounding natural detail that sets the body’s internal scene for the acceptance of the innumerable benefits of Qigong. For not only do we gain physical benefits from this beautiful movement practice, but also on other levels of our being, very possibly all levels in fact – but who could possibly count them!?
The mind can find peace, clarity, stringent focus, and a newfound re-adjustment of the nervous system processes to allow for a more in-sync and fluid altering of old mindset patterns which have not served us well and can be discarded. Mindful and intentional practice can bring a natural ease to many systems of the body. But this is not meant to be a measurable thing – it is a very personal experiential one, as results vary and range in diversity from person to person.

There are lots of technicalities I could write about Qigong. I could tell you about the Yin and Yang Theory, the Five Elements Theory, the human meridian system that is an amazing and intricate part of our energy body framework that carries our life-force. There is a wonderful web of mythology and esotericality (is that a word? J) around it too. There is a real strength and antiquity about it as its roots come from the attention to primal, elemental and natural forces: these forces being both its inspiration and ours, as well as its purpose in re-connecting us with these pure forces, as opposed to the artificial ones imposed upon us or manipulated around us.  But, I have read about these all before and you probably have too.

But it is the intuitive, or natural, nature of Qigong that inspires me to write about it here and share the passion I have for you to know on a different and deep level of your being. . . your own poetic side.

Anything you do can be done in a Qigong way. Just immerse yourself fully, consciously, momentarily, in whatever your body is actively doing, or not doing. Recognise, and in that way, grow a new respect and understanding for your very own body’s real talent and subconscious effort to keep you alive and active and mobile.
Take a step – an actual physical step - and breathe, but not only ‘do’ that, be fully present ‘in’ that. Sense the angle of your knees, the weight shift and pressure as your foot takes you forward from the movement of your hip and the very first spark that ignites in your brain that decides you are physically and consciously going to place one foot in front of the other, in order to get you from one place to the next. Acknowledge every part of that sequence of mini-events that occur in your body from that very first intention to move all the way through to the culmination of the entire act of stepping!

We are incredibly complex beings of nature and we owe it to our true selves that are striving for balance and connectedness and true peace, to be not only aware of that , but of our unrealised potential as individuals as well as a race, of evolving and improving humanity and our own personal form of humanity.

Of course, we needn’t be so distracted looking internally that we forget what is around us. I am speaking of momentary inner viewing and awareness, but this state which can also be utilised in good Qigong practice to deliver vast enrichment of life itself and the flow through of that into our extension of the greater world of which we are a part – especially referring to the Natural world of course.

However, the realm of Qigong is not isolated to just the Chinese aspect of practice. For certain, it is at the traditional forefront in its history, complexity, beneficence and practical extension into our current world. But if its literal meaning is widened, then we can see that it also flows to include the native dance of Africans, the Whirling Dervish, the Native American Indians and more as you may notice for yourself.

So, Qigong, from my perspective? I am a born poetess. Poetry was my first love from a very young age: that natural flow of writing poetry and descriptive prose. Once I discovered the power of transformation and illustration of this medium, it gripped me forever! It has followed and detailed my heartfelt experiences through my own life and in viewing others; intricately and lovingly detailing the simplicity, trauma, love, hope and complexity of each stage and in relationships. Poetry is something that never fully leaves me and can always pop up when I least expect or at an impromptu moment, delivering a loving account of my inner experiences of the time. I am so grateful for this gift.

And then came Qigong. I experience my practice as poetry in motion, literally. I sense my body movements in my nature spaces just as poetically as any words that may come to mind. How poetic the two forms are together and reflective of each other and expressions of the self both inner and outer. And Qigong itself inspires those words too. A friend of mine who also practices Qigong has reflected similarly and commented that 'moving in qigong is like moving through honey'. And it really is. When the mind and body become harmonised, focused and combine in the active movements of the body, there is that definite sensation of being in a surrounding viscous filled space, yet totally limitless and abundantly peaceful and aligned with the Universe and your Higher Self. Qigong may not be for everyone, but that is in itself, an aspect of the Nature of Life.

Year of the Dog Begins 2018.

Sat 17.2.2018.

Welcome to the Year of the Earth Dog, Universal Journeyers!
AKA 'GOH'.

(Even though my pic contains my dog with her rabbit - that is for another year:))

If you were born in any of the following years then it is an auspicious year ahead for you:
1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018.
The characteristics of the Dog can also be found in people born in November, of any year.

According to C. Al Huang, a Chinese Spiritual Master, in his beautiful art-book " The Chinese Book of Animal Powers" the following is characteristic of Dog Year people:

"We call it 'man's best friend'. But before we made it depend on us, it was wild and free as a wolf, coyote, or fox roaming in wilderness, howling at the moon. . . . If you were born in the year or month of GOH you are sensitive and affectionate by nature. You come alive and thrive in the outdoors, by the campfire, basking under the sun, or glowing beneath the full moon. You may enjoy sheltered comfort, but you cannot be cooped up inside for long. You love people and thrive on kindness; appreciate being cared for but hate being patronised. You have a natural instinct to guide others to the right paths, but avoid being humourless. Cultivate a rue zest for life and inspire others to do the same. Being often right on target and usually extremely helpful to others makes you happy. GOH represents our natural instincts and the most affectionate and trustworthy qualities in all of us. "

So , hopefully, many of these qualities rub off a little on all of us and infect us all with good doses of kindness, loyalty, trustworthiness, unconditional love, playfulness, focus, living-in-the-moment and divine patience for the year ahead.

Go Well Dear Ones,
Until next time.

White Space

Weds 14.2.2018

Welcome and Greetings to All on
The Universal Journey,

There is a subject that has fascinated me over the years and grown in significance - once I have an eye to look for it. It is Yohaku.

Yohaku is a Japanese term defining that blank space upon which an image is made.

In its blankness is its importance; its significance. For without this blankness, there would be no background upon which to overlay a design or character. It is this blank white space that defines the image upon it.

In another perception, it is this blank space that is the creative void from where the first impression comes. If there was no creative void, there would be no space for creation, for design, for poetry, for art, for music to be written upon.

To me, yohaku is immeasurably important in defining life itself. It encompasses the aspects of yin and yang.

As a poetess, a blank page upon which to write is a magnificent open space full of potential for creative vivid concepts to be written.

As I have taught in my spiritual development classes over the years, I impress upon students, not to underestimate the power in the space which is between the lines of a pattern, sacred geometry and particularly in the case of (legitimate) crop patterns.

It is the blank white space between the lines of design that not only define the design, but illuminate a message, a total concept or evoke an idea, making it more complete and whole.

Take a moment to look at a design you may come across today. Shift your vision. Allow the hidden white space to speak to you in its own way, then as a part of the whole. You may find an entire new dimension for yourself to explore.

Blessings on this day as always,
as I leave my own footprints on this white space of The Universal Journey.

Somebody Else's Band Wagon.

Sunday 4.2.18.

Somebody Else’s Bandwagon.

Greetings All on the Universal Journey.

Today I just want to say a little about a concept that can arise when you are on the upward spiral of awakening & spiritual evolution . . .  as we all, as human’s, are!

What’s a ‘band wagon’?

So I never really thought about the actual meaning of a band wagon when we often heard this term growing up, or in discussions. It was just a phrase commonly used sometimes, as in “Don’t go jumping onto somebody else’s band wagon”. Have you come across this term too?

A band wagon as a colloquial term brings up an image of a brightly coloured, decorated wagon which is a vehicle for carrying around a band – musicians playing loudly & animatedly to attract everyone’s attention.

So, in suggesting not to be jumping on somebody else’s band wagon, is a term of advice. It suggests that you not go leaping after and following any and every form of bright, loud, in-your-face persona or paradigm or concept that comes around to distract you from the essence of your own true calling, your true Nature;  That  “all that glitters is not gold”, and you should take the path of your own making or calling, create your own wagon of discernment and better judgement, without the frill & gloss and loud attention seeking noise.

Now as aware & open humans evolving consciously, it is a sound suggestion to consider. . . especially in this era of such intense social media & dubious commercial media. Often intentions behind presentations are not to your best higher purpose, including many new ‘band wagon’ concepts of ET contacts & situations, as the era of disclosure begins. For there are also many out there that are justifiable & correct about ETs. But this post is not all about ET phenomena (I can cover that at another time)  -  but for your Soul’s more direct, discerned & higher directional course & development.

I do not get into disturbing conspiracy theories & discussions. Although I used to many years ago when things were new. I have since learned that these conspiracy conversations & posts get a life of their own and snowball to the eventual detriment of the Soul’s growth and vibrational frequency which is due to be raised, rather than lowered. They may go under the banner, or on the band wagon of “for your best interest at heart” or as “you need to know this!” and other such concepts which relate not to the heart or awakening at all, but to the increase in fear and separation and anxiety about your own existence.

You are much better than this.

You are worthy of higher elements of spiritual concept than this.

You are worthy of knowing the truth, in a higher vibrational way and your very own Essence, your very own Soul is your best guide of all.

If these ‘band wagoners’ offer you such things as a quick fix, a better seat, a better view, too good to be true . . . take a step back and a few moments pause. Allow your inner self to come forward. Breathe and spend a few minutes getting a real sense of “just how exactly does this make me feel?”  Then discern and choose for yourself. At least you have given your inner higher self an opportunity to speak to you from the part of your divine being that actually cares for and about you alone – without an agenda to fulfil, except care & nurturing of you in this Lifetime. Of course it may feel totally right for you, or for the person who is listening to that same band, right beside you!  But not all is for everyone, or perhaps not right at this very moment. . . . Or maybe it is? That, as always, is up to you.

Love and Blessings as Ever.
