A Pinch of Cinnamon

14.5.2018

Spicing up the Universal Journey with yummy cinnamon for the onset of Winter.

Who doesn’t love the fragrance and taste of cinnamon? Not many people that I have found!

I will find any excuse to eat or use cinnamon in cooking: sprinkling on cereal, desserts or in curry dishes and salad dressings & also mixed in mayo on hot vegies as a warm dressing combo with citrus or curry powder. In hot or cold dishes and drinks such as spiced wine or warm milk beverages. Combined with citrus like orange creates a new level of deliciousness! There is also a form named Dutch Cinnamon which is yummy too!

It is also a natural assistant to balancing our blood sugar levels. And I find that if I substitute cinnamon for sugar in some foods or drinks, it is quite satisfying, not to mention warming for the system. I am no health expert, but I do know what has worked for me, so using your own discretion, they may work for you too.

I also use it carefully, as an essential oil and is found in a doTerra blend called On Guard as a great Winter immune system protector. I use this regularly especially in Autumn Winter and Spring.

If using essential oils versions, here are a few tips for using this deliciously fragranced spice for good winter-time health, however please note: it is a very warming oil, so do not apply pure essence directly to the skin! And take care and pre-test or start at a smaller dosage at first for yourself. I might try the massage oil tonight.

(Info shared from doTerra thank you)

“Cinnamon is derived from a tropical, evergreen tree that grows up to 45-feet high and has highly fragrant bark, leaves, and flowers. Extracted from bark, Cinnamon oil contains strong cleansing and immune support properties. Due to its high content of cinnamaldehyde, Cinnamon should be diluted with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil when applied to the skin and only one to two drops are needed for internal benefits.* Cinnamon supports healthy metabolic function and helps maintain a healthy immune system, especially when seasonal threats are high.* Cinnamon is frequently used in mouth rinses and gums.* Cinnamon has a long history of culinary uses, adding spice to desserts, entrees, and hot drinks.
  • Put 2 drops in empty veggie capsule to maintain a healthy immune system.*
  • Place 1 drop of Cinnamon essential oil in hot water or tea and drink slowly to soothe your irritated throat.*
  • Put 2–3 drops in a spray bottle for a quick and effective cleaning spray.
  • During your nightly routine, add one drop to two ounces of water and gargle for an effective mouth rinse.
  • Dilute with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil and create a warming massage for cold, achy joints during winter time.
Cold Diffusion: Use three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice.
Internal use: Dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid.
Topical use: Dilute one to two drops with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil then apply to desired area.”

Happy Cinnamonising on

The Universal Journey.
